Kiriyenko arrived in Energodar and visited the Zaporozhye NPP

The first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, arrived in Energodar, where he visited the Zaporozhye NPP, inspected infrastructure facilities and met with the city’s leadership. About it informed Telegram-channel “Zaporozhye Bulletin”.

The administration of Energodar did not comment on the visit of the deputy head of the Presidential Administration, but reposted the message. In Energodar, Kiriyenko discussed the development of education and youth sports with the city authorities. He visited the “atomic class” opened within the framework of the “Rosatom School” project, where mathematics and natural sciences are studied in depth. The first deputy head of the administration also came to the regional boxing school, which was taken under the patronage of the Russian Boxing Federation, the report says.

According to the Telegram channel, Kiriyenko visited the Zaporozhye NPP.

“The first deputy head of the presidential administration of Russia assessed the general situation in the area of ​​the station and got acquainted with the additional measures taken to protect it physically,” the Zaporizhzhya Vestnik reported.

Russia has controlled the ZNPP since the end of February 2022. Since then, the Russian side has reported that the plant and the city of Energodar, where it is located, are subject to regular shelling from Ukraine. In early October, after the Zaporozhye region became part of Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to take the plant facilities into federal ownership and create the Zaporozhye NPP FSUE to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities.

In early September last year, an IAEA mission headed by Director General Rafael Grossi arrived at the ZNPP. The organization called for an end to the attacks on the station and the establishment of a safe zone around it. Since that moment, IAEA experts have been constantly at the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The IAEA director has been promoting the idea of ​​a demilitarized zone over the past few months. In addition, at the end of March, Grossi himself arrived at the ZNPP. On March 23, he announced that the idea of ​​demilitarizing the zone around the Zaporizhzhya NPP was no longer being considered – now it is about cessation of hostilities in the area of ​​the station.

The operation of the Zaporozhye NPP will transferred to Russian standards by 2030, Renat Karchaa, adviser to the CEO of Rosenergoatom, said earlier this week.
