“Kids will be scared”: the Snow Maiden from Nizhnevartovsk received all-Russian fame

The authorities of Nizhnevartovsk scared and amused the residents of the city with ice figures installed on the main square of the city.

Local media reported that it was originally planned to beat Pavel Bazhov’s fairy tales “Mining Master”, “Mistress of the Copper Mountain” and others. On the sketches, the sculptures looked quite friendly. The mayor’s office intended to pay 10 million rubles for the festive figures.

However, the reality made the residents of Nizhnevartovsk shudder. Most of all they were struck by the appearance of the Snow Maiden. Commentators on social media wrotethat she is very similar to a Mongolian hunter or a disgruntled minibus driver. She was given the nicknames “Grandfather Snegur” and “Snegurka-Hulk”.

Users decided to send photos of the “all-city shame” to the competition, where they will choose the most severe maiden in the country. They were also amazed by the expression on the face of the ice hare, which “does not look like itself.”

Commentators predicted that the ice sculptures would greatly frighten the little ones. One of them admitted that now he was afraid to walk through the square as well as before through the cemetery.

By the way, residents of Nizhnevartovsk quickly figured outthat the media were wrong, and the ice husks cost the authorities somewhat cheaper. The public procurement website says that the Nizhnevartovsk City Administration for Road Facilities and Improvement paid “only” 6.8 million rubles for them.
