The volume of construction work in Russia in the first nine months increased by 9% in annual terms, the industry is showing strong growth, stated Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.

“Summarizing the results of nine months, I can say that, despite certain difficulties, in general we see positive dynamics in the development of the construction industry. The volume of work increased by 9% compared to the same period last year <...> The industry provides stable, confident growth,” the government press service quotes him as saying.

Since the beginning of the year, Khusnullin continued, 79.7 million sq. m. m of housing, and the commissioning of apartment buildings increased by 5.5% year on year. During the same period, 1.45 million mortgage loans were issued, which is 62% more than last year.

Urban planning potential, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, increased during this period by 2.3% and amounted to 421 million square meters. m, and the volume of existing construction permits increased to 157.2 million sq. m. M. Khusnullin thanked the regional leaders, calling the work of all subjects of the Russian Federation “generally excellent.”

The head of the Ministry of Construction, Irek Fayzullin, in turn, said that in January-September 33.6 million square meters were launched. m of new projects, which is 15% more than a year ago.

At the end of September Khusnullin warnedthat the shortage of personnel in the Russian construction industry could reach 400,000 people by 2030. At the moment, the domestic construction complex lacks about 50,000 people, which, according to his assessment, is “not so much” against the backdrop of 11 million construction workers currently working.
