Khinshtein announced the absence of plans to build a closed Runet

Russia has no plans to build an Internet closed from the outside world. About it declared Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein in his Telegram channel.

“I would like to emphasize separately that there are no plans to build a Runet closed from the outside world in Russia. The country is not going to fence off and switch to strict traffic locking. But we need to be prepared for the fact that they can try to cut us off from the main communication lines from the outside, ”wrote Khinshtein.

State Duma deputy thus commented on the material RBC that Roskomnadzor on the night of 4 to 5 July spent regular exercises to ensure the sustainable and safe functioning of the Internet. According to the sources of the publication, the exercises were successful, another interlocutor suggested that they could check the continued operation of the Russian segment of the network when it was turned off from the outside.

Khinshtein noted that security and stable operation of the Russian segment of the global network have come to the fore for Russia, since without this it is impossible to work in any sector of the economy. He recalled that in 2019 a law on sustainable Runet was adopted, thanks to which the state has the tools to prevent the network from shutting down even with an external shutdown. In 2021 reportedthat more than 30 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes.
