State Duma deputies Alexander Khinshtein and Vasily Piskarev asked the law enforcement agencies for information about the interference in the internal affairs of Russia by Ukrainian and Western intelligence services against the backdrop of unrest at the Makhachkala airport. About it reported Piskarev in his Telegram channel.

The deputies sent a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB of Russia on behalf of the State Duma. Khinshtein is the chairman of the committee on information policy, information technology and communications, and Piskarev heads the committee to investigate facts of interference by foreign states in the internal affairs of Russia.

“It is necessary to understand in detail the issue of possible enemy information influence on citizens, which could contribute to the organization of a mass action and pogrom at the Makhachkala airport, and to develop additional measures to counter such provocations,” Piskarev noted.

He added that deputies are already working on individual proposals to counter foreign interference.

On October 29, a crowd of protesting residents of Dagestan burst into Uytash airport as a flight from Israel arrived there. Protesters entered the airport building and broke onto the runway, surrounding the plane. The Federal Air Transport Agency announced the temporary closure of Makhachkala airport; it resumed operations the next day. Activists were outraged by Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip.

The head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov earlier declaredthat the riots were preceded by calls disseminated by pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels. In particular, it was established that the channel “Morning Dagestan” was broadcast from Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasizedthat the events in Makhachkala were inspired from abroad, including with the participation of the Ukrainian special services and their Western patrons.
