The leadership of the Khimki team, which occupies the penultimate place in the Russian Football Championship, terminated the employment contract with Spartak Gogniev, who was its third head coach this season. This decision was made the next day after the devastating (0:6) home defeat of Khimki from Krasnodar in the next match of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The Moscow Region team will attempt to get out of the bottom of the standings under the leadership of Rinat Bilyaletdinov, who has been appointed acting head coach.

Khimki near Moscow announced the parting with Spartak Gogniev on the official website of the club. A very short message says that the decision to terminate the contract was made by agreement of the parties. There is also a commentary by Spartak Gogniev. “I want to thank the management of the club for their trust and the opportunity to coach a Premier League club. With all my heart I wish Khimki good luck, prosperity and the solution of the tasks set,” he said.

Gogniev’s resignation occurred the next day after Khimki conceded six unanswered goals from Krasnodar in the match of the 21st round of the Russian Football Championship. Apparently, after that, it became completely clear to the team management that the 42-year-old specialist, who had previously worked at Alania, but until September last year had no coaching experience at the RPL level, could not cope with the task assigned to him. In total, under the leadership of Gogniev, Khimki played 19 matches in official tournaments, of which only 1 won, 3 drew and 15 lost.

At the moment, Khimki is in 15th place in the Russian Championship, having 13 points and the worst goal difference in the tournament (19:47).

An attempt to climb into the play-off zone, which currently includes Fakel Voronezh with 17 points and Nizhny Novgorod with 19 points, Khimki, will be made under the leadership of 65-year-old Rinat Bilyaletdinov, who has already been appointed acting head coach. In fact, he has already become the fourth specialist to lead the team this season, since before Spartak Gogniev, Khimki had Sergey Yuran, who was fired in August last year, despite seven points in the first four rounds, and Nikolai Pisarev. In the next round on Sunday, Khimki will play on a foreign field with CSKA, which is in fourth place and really claims to be medals.
