Khabarovsk deputy destroyed a batch of books “Summer in a pioneer tie” and “What the swallow is silent about”

Deputy Chairman of the Khabarovsk City Duma Yuri Yagodin from the United Russia party, together with members of the Council of Fathers, bought up a batch of books Summer in a Pioneer Tie and What the Swallow Is Silent About. The deputy and activists saw LGBT propaganda in these books. Therefore, a group of men decided to tear up the “homosyat literature”. The destruction of books was filmed on video, which was published by the Rise Telegram channel and a number of others.

In the video, Deputy Yagodin, together with his comrades in an industrial building, tears up the books “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” and “What the Swallow is Silent About”. “Instead of doing charity work, we are forced to buy these books,” Mr. Yagodin says in the video. “Here it is, homosyat literature… So that this doesn’t happen,” the deputy says in the video and tears up one of the volumes.

Andrey Nikonov, who identified himself as one of the protesters, told “Rise”that the deputy bought the books with his own money. “This is our second event, such an appeal to business so that they remove this non-traditional thing from the shelves, this perversion. This time, Deputy Chairman of the City Duma Yuri Yagodin expressed his desire to go with us. He had the idea to buy back the literature, he bought it, he paid for it,” said Mr. Nikonov.

The novel “Summer in a Pioneer’s Tie” and its sequel “What the Swallow Is Silent About”, written by Katerina Silvanova and Elena Malisova, tell about the relationship between a pioneer and a counselor in a Soviet children’s camp. In the summer of 2022, a scandal erupted around the bestseller. The authors were accused of promoting same-sex relationships among teenagers. The book was criticized by writer Zakhar Prilepin and director Nikita Mikhalkov. Roskomnadzor found no violations after the audit. The department explained that the novels are sold with the label “18+”.

November 30 Federation Council approved a package of laws to ban the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations and gender reassignment in advertising, books, films and the media to adults and children. For individuals, the fine will be from 50 thousand to 400 thousand rubles, for officials – up to 800 thousand rubles, for legal entities – up to 5 million rubles.
