Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon set the world record in the 1500m. She covered the distance in 3 minutes 49.11 seconds. The last record belonged to the Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba, it was set in February 1991.
29-year-old Kipyegon set a record at the Diamond League stage in Florence, Italy. Kipyegon is a two-time Olympic champion (2016, 2020), a two-time world champion (2017, 2022). Twice silver medalist of world championships. The only runner in history to win a World Championship medal at a distance of 1500 meters four times in a row (two silvers and two golds).
