Kennedy Jr. promised to stop the supply of depleted uranium ammunition to Kyiv

US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. said that if elected, he would put an end to the “reckless and inhuman policy” of Washington, which can supply Kiev with depleted uranium shells.

Kennedy, in his publication on platform X (formerly Twitter), referred to an article by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, who reasoned in it about the consequences of the use of shells with depleted uranium by Ukraine.

“Destroy Ukraine in order to save it. A sobering article on depleted uranium munitions. Needless to say, as president, I will put an end to this reckless and inhumane policy,” the politician wrote.

Zakharova’s article was published in Komsomolskaya Pravda on 25 August. In it, a representative of the Foreign Ministry claims that the use of shells with depleted uranium makes the Ukrainian land uninhabitable, and that in some regions of Ukraine, due to the supply of radioactive and highly toxic British and American ammunition, bursts of background radiation have already been recorded.

On March 20, British Deputy Minister of Defense Annabelle Goldie announced that London would supply Kiev with depleted uranium shells for Challenger 2 tanks. She explained the supply of such ammunition by the fact that they are highly effective against modern tanks and armored vehicles. On April 25, British Deputy Defense Minister James Hippie announced that the UK had already sent thousands of rounds for the Challenger 2 tanks, including those with depleted uranium, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Shells with depleted uranium are also included in the ammunition of American Abrams tanks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow will be forced to respond to deliveries of depleted uranium shells to Ukraine. According to him, this decision demonstrates the willingness of the West to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian, not in words but in deeds.
