Kazakhstan proposed expanding the UN Security Council to include countries of the global South

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko said that the republic stands for increasing the number of countries on the UN Security Council. He proposed to include representatives from Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
According to the politician, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev considers it important to increase the role of the UN General Assembly.
Roman Vasilenko noted that states that represent all regions of the world should join the UN Security Council, including at the expense of the so-called “global South.”
