WhatsApp (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) has a new scam in which users are offered to win alcohol from large retailers. About it report RIA Novosti with reference to Kaspersky Lab.
We are talking about a phishing mailing list with an offer to participate in an alcohol raffle from large retailers. The attackers ask users to answer a few questions and share a link to the draw. And then they offer to enter the data of a bank card.
The day before, December 28, Kaspersky Lab told about a new scheme for “hijacking” a Telegram account, when attackers, under the guise of a friend, ask to take part in some kind of voting and send a link to the site. To count votes, the user must enter a phone number and verification code, after which the scammers gain access to his account.
In early October about WhatsApp vulnerabilities informed founder of Telegram Pavel Durov. According to him, hackers can gain full access to a user’s device through a malicious video or video call. Durov criticized the security of WhatsApp and urged users to “keep away” from this messenger.
