Kartapolov appreciated the possibility of increasing the mobilization reserve in Russia

In the event of a large-scale war, it will not be possible to manage only with mobilization reserves. About this in a conversation with RBC informed Andrey Kartapolov, head of the State Duma Defense Committee.

“The reserve is intended for this, but everything will depend on the scale [возможных будущих] conflicts <...> We will not be able to completely dispense with the mobilization reserve in the event of a large-scale war, ”he said.

At the same time, Kartapolov stressed that the system of formation of the mobilization reserve meets the requirements that are now facing the state, and has proven itself well.

On January 7, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, Lieutenant-General Andrei Gurulev, pointed out the need to increase the mobilization reserve “in case of Poland’s intervention” and to deter NATO from interfering in the Ukrainian conflict. However, on January 4 informedthat in Russia there are no prerequisites for a second wave of mobilization in the next six months.

Partial mobilization took place in Russia from September 21 to October 31, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that as a result, 318,000 people were mobilized instead of the originally planned 300,000, since a large number of volunteers wanted to go to the war zone. December 8 Putin declaredthat at present there is no need for additional mobilization measures.

To enter the mobilization reserve, it is necessary to conclude a contract with a military unit on staying in the reserve, its validity lasts for three, five years or until the age limit for staying in the reserve reaches 45-65 years, depending on the rank of the soldier. The number of reservists of the Ministry of Defense does not disclose.
