Karchaa announced Kyiv’s plans to strike at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

Ukraine plans to strike at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant on the night of July 5. This was stated by the adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern Renat Karchaa on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

“July 5, literally at night, at night, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will try to attack the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant using high-precision long-range weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles – kamikaze,” – told he (quote from RIA Novosti). According to him, Kyiv can also drop ammunition filled with radioactive waste removed from the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant.

June 30 Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov toldthat on June 29, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Russia again circulated an official document in which it expressed concern over provocations by Ukraine. The minister stressed that IAEA experts and the agency’s director general Rafael Grossi “know very well who is shelling” the Zaporizhzhya NPP. He called Kyiv’s accusations against Russia about an allegedly impending provocation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant a lie.

Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Since the end of February 2022, ZNPP has been under Russian control. The Russian side has repeatedly reported that the station and the city of Energodar, where it is located, are subjected to regular shelling by Ukraine.
