Kaluga athlete Ilya Marichev became the champion of Russia in powerlifting. The championship was held in Tambov, reports on Tuesday, May 2, the Ministry of Sports of the Kaluga Region.
“Tambov hosted the Russian powerlifting championship (classic triathlon). Master of sports of international class, world record holder, athlete of the sports school “Spartak” Ilya Marichev in the weight category up to 74 kg set two country records – 303.5 kg in deadlift and 726 kg in triathlon. As a result of the performances, our Ilya became the champion of Russia and the owner of the gold medal,” the ministry said.
In total, 150 Russian heroes from 47 subjects of the Russian Federation took part in the fight. The championship determined the composition of the national team for the entire season.
At the championship, another representative of the Kaluga school “Spartak”, the world and Russian record holder Daria Efimtseva, in the weight category over 84 kg, took “gold” and set a Russian record in deadlift and in total – 642.5 kg. In the same category, Olga Kuzmina, a Kaluga resident from the Vympel Olympic reserve sports school, took second place.
