Kaluga athletes reached the finals of the Olympics of the strongest in swimming, the regional Ministry of Sports reports on Monday evening, August 22.
“Ours are in the final! We follow the performance of our athletes at the Spartakiad of the strongest in swimming,” the ministry said.
So, according to the results of the semi-final heats at a distance of 100 meters freestyle, Maria Kameneva reached the final with the first time. In addition, Mikhail Vekovishchev made it to the final third in the 100m butterfly.
The final swim will take place on Tuesday evening.
Swimmers from the Kaluga region have already won medals at the Spartakiad. In the men’s 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay, the Kaluga Region team, consisting of Mikhail Vekovishchev, Vladislav Gerasimenko, Dmitry Savenko and Anton Voloshin, took third place.
The Kaluga Region team includes bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in London Sergey Fesikov, world and European champion Maria Kameneva and other swimmers.
Swimming competitions are held in St. Petersburg and will last until August 26. The Spartakiad of the strongest is held until October 2 in 39 sports.
