The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, promised to start dismissing officials from his team whose children do not know the national language. He made this statement at the finals of the competition for knowledge of the Chechen language “Nokhchiin mettan govzancha” in Grozny, writes “Chechnya today.”
“First of all, parents should teach children their native language. In kindergartens and schools they teach the Russian language, and parents often encourage this. Children even begin to think in Russian. The generation that does not speak or think in the Chechen language has no future,” Kadyrov said.
The publication clarifies that in the finals of the “Nokhchiin mettan govzancha” competition, participants had to demonstrate knowledge of Chechen words, identify an object in a photo in the Chechen language, solve crossword puzzles and translate works into Chechen.
