The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called stories about hundreds of dead soldiers of the Akhmat special forces unit near Lisichansk. According to him, there are no dead soldiers from Chechnya in the region.

The day before, on November 7, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Akhmat unit had been defeated in Lisichansk. According to the statements of the General Staff, during the clashes 30 Chechen fighters died and 15 were wounded.
