The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced the construction of a base that will house a new operational battalion named after Baysangur Benoevsky. This is stated in his Telegram channel.
“The unit under the leadership of commander Bekkhan Chalaev will consist of 300 fighters,” the message says.
Kadyrov added that the unit will be part of the structure of the National Guard of the North Caucasus District. “I am confident that the new battalion will become one of the most effective and elite in the Russian Guard system,” added the head of Chechnya.
At the moment, as Ramzan Kadyrov said, the construction of the base is being completed. The head of Chechnya instructed to increase the pace of construction and “resolve the issue of improvement of the adjacent territory.” The military base, he said, must meet “the latest quality standards.”
Baysangur Benoevsky is a Chechen commander of the 19th century and one of the leaders of the uprising of 1860-1861. Several streets in the republic are named in honor of Benoevsky. In 2020, one of the districts of Grozny was renamed Beysangurovsky.
