After the expulsion of Darwin Nunez this Monday evening against Crystal Palace (1-1)Jürgen Klopp is going to face a shortage of forwards, while Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota were already out through injury.
For his first home Premier League game, Nunez, recruited this summer, received a red card in the second half for headbutting Joachim Andersen. That leaves Klopp short of attacking options ahead of Monday’s trip to Manchester United.
“It’s really tricky at the moment with injuries and players with little things and how you deal with them and all those sorts of things.Klopp told Sky Sports. We have to use next week to, maybe, bring back one or two. I’m not sure we can do that. But now we have lost Darwin. It doesn’t help. Nunez’s suspension will force Klopp to reshuffle his squad and the German boss has addressed some restrained criticism of the Uruguay international. “It is absolutely not a reaction that we want to see […]. I don’t know exactly how long he’ll be suspended but that’s the situation and so we’ll use him for the physical work – not as a punishment, just to make him even stronger”did he declare.
