Jurgen Klinsman named head coach of South Korea national football team

Korean Football Association (KFA) announced on the appointment of 58-year-old German specialist Jurgen Klinsman as the head coach of the South Korean national team. The contract was concluded for 3 years and 5 months, from March until the finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The previous coach of the South Korean national team was the 53-year-old Portuguese Paulo Bento, who led the team since August 2018. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the team under his leadership was able to reach the play-offs of the final tournament and lost in the 1/8 finals of Brazil with a score of 4:1. The day after the match, December 6, Mr. Bento announced his resignation as head coach and said he wanted to take a break from his coaching career.
Jurgen Klinsmann began his football career in 1981 at Stuttgarter Kickers. Played as a striker. Among the clubs in which Mr. Klinsman played are Stuttgart, Inter, Bayern, Monaco and Tottenham. For the German national team, he played 108 matches in which he scored 47 goals. In 1990 and 1996, Mr. Klinsman became the European champion, and in 1991 and 1996 he won the UEFA Cup with Inter and Bayern. Jürgen Klinsmann began his coaching career in 2004, heading the German national team. He also coached the US national team, Bayern and Hertha.
