State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin believes that the days of the armed rebellion by Wagner PMC fighters on June 23-24 went down in Russian history as “days of unity and consolidation of society” around President Vladimir Putin. Mr. Volodin claims that no one supported the rebellion.

“The difficult situation has shown how high the authority of the President is among civil society and military personnel. Despite the multi-party system and the opportunity to express a variety of points of view, there was not a single example of someone supporting the rebellion, ”Vyacheslav Volodin wrote in Telegram.

According to him, Vladimir Putin in this situation has strengthened his position in Russia and in the world. “He did everything to prevent bloodshed and confusion,” the speaker added. In his opinion, if in 1917 and 1991 Russia was led by people like Vladimir Putin, “there would be no revolution and the collapse of the USSR.”

On June 23, Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the Ministry of Defense of hitting the positions of the Wagner PMC and said that his fighters were going to Moscow to “sort it out”. On the night of June 24, PMC mercenaries occupied the headquarters of the Southern Military District in the center of Rostov-on-Don.

Judging by the videos and photos from social networks, on June 24, in the center near the headquarters, the townspeople walked, took pictures with Wagner mercenaries, climbed onto their tanks. According to the portal 161.ru, on the day of the military mutiny in the city center there were about three hundred Rostovites. How transmitted Kommersant correspondent in Rostov-on-Don, crowds of citizens, after the situation was settled, approached the mercenaries leaving the city, wishing them “everything, everything.”

The FSB opened a criminal case against Yevgeny Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion, which was closed on June 27. According to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who negotiated with Yevgeny Prigozhin, the PMC fighters retreated to “field camps”. Mr. Prigozhin himself, according to the Russian and Belarusian authorities, was going to leave for Belarus after these events.
