Julia Roberts Discovered She Wasn’t Really Roberts

More and more is becoming known about the biography of Julia Roberts.
Not too long ago, it was widely reported on the Internet that civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. paid the hospital bill for her birth.
Wednesday’s episode of the PBS series “Find Your Roots” with Henry Louis Gates Jr. shows Roberts learning that she was not actually related to her alleged great-great-grandfather Willis Roberts.
Gates broke the news to the Oscar-winning actress that the elder Roberts actually died more than a decade before her great-grandfather John was born to her great-great-grandmother Rhoda Suttle Roberts in the 1800s.
“But wait, am I not Roberts?” she asked Gates.
He explained that, using DNA, they were able to connect Roberts and her cousin to a man named Henry Macdonald Mitchell, Jr., who was her biological great-great-grandfather.
“So we’re the Mitchells?” Roberts asked Gates.
You are Julia Mitchell. Biologically, you are not Roberts,” he replied.
