Journalist: Israel plans to attack Gaza with JDAM bombs

Israel plans to attack Gaza with JDAM glide bombs on Sunday or Monday, American journalist Seymour Hersh reported.

JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) – conventional bombs, retrofitted with an aerodynamic kit with GPS guidance, weighing from 230 to 960 kg and a range of use from 40-75 km. The JDAM development program is a joint program of the US Air Force and US Navy.

In his Substack post, Hersh, citing his sources, notes that such attacks would lead to the complete destruction of the city.

“Current planning assumes that a JDAM attack, if approved, would occur as early as Sunday or Monday, given the effectiveness of the forced ejection from Gaza City and the south, followed immediately by a ground invasion,” he said.

His material also states that Israel is trying to persuade Qatar to join Egypt in providing funds for the creation of a camp for refugees from the Gaza Strip. Hersh claims that Israel has no doubts about Egypt’s agreement to accept more than a million refugees.

On October 7, Israel was attacked by the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. After a rocket attack, a centurion of Hamas fighters entered Israeli territory. Subsequently, Israel launched a retaliatory Operation Iron Swords, returned control of all settlements near the border with Gaza, and began to attack Gaza with aircraft and missiles, and also blocked supplies of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel to the region.

The number of victims of the exacerbation on both sides has long exceeded a thousand; among the dead there are citizens of Russia and many other countries. The Israel Defense Forces reported that Hamas was holding more than 120 civilians hostage in the Gaza Strip.

The Russian Foreign Ministry appealed to both sides to stop the fighting. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the conflict cannot be resolved otherwise than on the basis of a decision of the UN Security Council, which provides for the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.
