Journalist Hersh revealed the motive of the United States in organizing the undermining of the “Nord Streams”

The United States orchestrated the bombing of Nord Stream so that Germany would not withdraw its support for Ukraine because of cheap Russian gas, Seymour Hersh, an American investigative journalist, said in an interview with democracynow.org.

“Here’s what he did [президент США Джо] Biden. He said we have a big war over Ukraine. I want to have the support of Germany and the West. I know that winter is coming and it will be hard, and I do not want the Germans to say – we stop [поддержку Украины]so that we don’t feel bad. Otherwise we will be destroyed. Our economy will collapse without cheap fuel. Therefore, we leave and save the gas pipe. We [американцы] deprived them of that option,” he said (quote according to TASS).

Earlier today Hersh declaredthat the country’s leading media ignored the results of his investigation into the circumstances of the Nord Stream bombing. The journalist noted that The New York Times, in which he worked in the 70s, as well as The Washington Post, which quoted his materials, completely ignored his investigation about Nord Stream, not even mentioning his refutation by the White House.

February 8 Seymour Hersh, 85-year-old Pulitzer Prize winner, published investigation of the Nord Stream incident, in which, citing an unnamed source, he announced the involvement in the undermining of the United States and Norway. According to him, during NATO exercises in the summer of 2022, American divers planted explosives under the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. On September 26 of the same year, a Norwegian naval aircraft dropped a sonar buoy that set off explosives, the journalist concluded.

At the White House called lies and “complete fiction” information about US involvement in the undermining. Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the US authorities not only admit their involvement in the explosions, but also “talk about it with pleasure.”

After the investigation, the State Duma Committee on International Affairs introduced for consideration a draft appeal to the UN with a call to investigate incidents on gas pipelines. The text of the appeal also mentions the Hersh investigation. Earlier on February 15, Lavrov announced that Russia trains a special meeting of the UN Security Council, which will discuss the organization of the investigation of explosions on gas pipelines.

The Nord Stream incident occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Then pressure dropped in both pipelines, and later two leaks were discovered that were located in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Sweden, and two more in the Danish EEZ. Initially, the three countries agreed to conduct a joint investigation, but later this idea was abandoned. Sweden has already completed an investigation, but those responsible for what happened have not been named.
