Journalist Flyarkovsky headed the Institute of Mass Media of the Russian State Humanitarian University instead of Svanidze

Vladislav Flyarkovsky appointed to the post of director of the Institute of Mass Media and Advertising of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), reported press office Faculty of Journalism of the Russian State University for the Humanities. Previously this post occupied Nikolai Svanidze, he was fired in December 2022.

The RSUH clarified that the teachers and staff of the institute met with its new director this Monday, January 30. Mr. Flyarkovsky during the meeting “expressed his hope for long-term and fruitful cooperation.”

Vladislav Flyarkovsky graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. Works on television since 1986. He was a presenter on the Rossiya channel, including a correspondent for the Vesti program (in 1993–1995), VGTRK, TV-6, and TV Center. In 2000–2001, he hosted Russian-language news releases on the Ukrainian channel ICTV. Since 2015, she has been hosting the program “Culture News from Vladislav Flyarkovsky” on the Russia-Culture TV channel. He taught at the Russian State University for the Humanities for five years.

Nikolay Svanidze spoke out with sharp criticism of the actions of the Russian authorities in relation to Ukraine. In particular, he called the entry of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine “unmotivated and unprovoked aggression.” In November 2022, President Vladimir Putin expelled Mr Svanidze from the Human Rights Council.
