Die Welt correspondent, during the broadcast from Kyiv, with a story about the situation of the inhabitants of Bakhmut (Artemovsk), stated that there are people there who are waiting for the arrival of the Russian military.

The journalist explained in response to the presenter’s question why there are still so many residents in Artemovsk who refuse the calls of the Ukrainian leadership to leave the city.

“Let’s look at people who have reached a certain age, very old people,” the correspondent said. She continued that in many regions of Ukraine, these people refused to evacuate, because they did not want to be where they did not know anyone and live in a gym.

“I’d rather stay here and maybe die, but I’ll die in my house,” she conveyed the point of view of such people.

Then she spoke about another category of residents of the Donbass: “And I think it is necessary to clarify that it is in the case of Bakhmut, if we look specifically at the Donbass, of course, there are those who speak or not necessarily speak openly, but, perhaps, keep in my thoughts: “I’m waiting for the Russians.”

The journalist added that these people are more likely to take a pro-Russian position and wait for this very reason.

At the same time, a video was circulating on Telegram channels of how the Ukrainian military went around the apartments of the residents of Artemivsk in search of people with a pro-Russian position.
