The President of Kyrgyzstan refused to translate the state language into Latin

The transition of the Kyrgyz language to the Latin alphabet is out of the question, it should develop in Cyrillic. This was stated by the President of the Republic Sadyr Japarov.

Today the head of state received the chairman of the national commission on the state language and language policy Kanybek Osmonaliev. Zhaparov made him a “severe remark” and urged him to refrain from careless statements, including in matters of translating the Kyrgyz language into Latin.

“Now this question is not raised, the development of the state language should continue in Cyrillic,” Zhaparov is quoted by the press service of the president of the republic.

Earlier, deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Emil Toktoshev and Kamila Taliyeva during the meeting urged translate the Kyrgyz language from Cyrillic to Latin. At the same time, Toktoshev stated that the original Kyrgyz words in Cyrillic “are spelled incorrectly.”

In turn, Osmonaliev noted that if an appropriate political decision is made, the transition to the Latin alphabet can take place.
