Japanese Prime Minister Kishida says he does not intend to dissolve parliament after successful by-elections
The Kyodo agency reports that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, during a conversation with reporters on Monday following the results of the by-elections, said that he was not going to dissolve the country’s parliament and hold early elections. The agency specified that the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of the Japanese prime minister managed to take four of the five allocated mandates.
According to Kishida, the LDP is focused on promoting each of the party’s political programs and achieving concrete results. The premier stressed that at the moment he is not considering dissolving the parliament and holding general elections in Japan.
Kishida also expressed gratitude to the Japanese people for their support and added that against the backdrop of the positive results of the by-elections, the country’s ruling bloc will continue to actively pursue its political course.
