Japanese lunar model is preparing to enter Earth satellite orbit

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) said Japan’s first lunar exploration lander SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon), launched on September 7, has successfully completed its critical flight phase and its mission continues as planned.
The JAXA report states that telemetry received from SLIM indicates that the functions necessary to maintain the spacecraft are normal, and this has ended the critical period of its operation.
The agency clarified that specialists were able to confirm the normal functioning of all systems that ensure the operation of the device, including engine operation, the ability to adjust position, energy generation from solar panels and communication with the Earth.
It is expected that the lunar module will remain in Earth orbit for another 20 days in order to conduct additional checks and prepare for the subsequent entry into lunar orbit.
