Japanese Defense Ministry announces North Korean missile launch

On July 12, North Korea launched what is believed to be a ballistic missile. About it informs NHK with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Japan.
The launch was made at 9:59 (03:59 Moscow time) from the suburbs of Pyongyang in an easterly direction. The missile is believed to have landed in the Sea of Japan around 11:13 (5:13) outside Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), about 250 km from Okushiri Island. There were no reports of damage.
Thus, the flight time of the rocket was 74 minutes, which is a record. Last year, the maximum flight time of the rocket was 71 minutes, writes NHK. The Department of Defense suggests that it could be an ICBM with a range of more than 5,500 km. According to the agency, this is the 14th launch of such weapons by the DPRK.
On June 15, North Korea launched two missiles at once towards the Sea of Japan, informed Reuters, citing the South Korean military. The Ministry of Defense of Japan reported that one of the missiles fell 110 km northwest of the island of Hegura, and the other – 250 km. Both missiles landed in the Japanese EEZ.
On the same day, a joint live-fire exercise with the United States ended in South Korea. They passed 25 km from the inter-Korean border. According to the Yonhap agency, a total of 610 pieces of equipment were involved in the exercises. In the DPRK, the exercises were criticized, noting that they lead to an escalation of tension in the region.
