Konstantin Yankauskas, a municipal deputy in the Moscow district of Zyuzino, has been summoned to court to consider an administrative case on discrediting the Russian armed forces. As follows from the photographs of the protocol posted in Telegram channel politics, the reason for starting the trial was the post of Mr. Jankauskas on VKontakte with a quote from Pope Francis about the events in Ukraine.
“The Zyuzinsky court received a protocol from the police for my post dated March 14 … This is Pope Francis’ prayer for peace and an end to the war in Ukraine. I don’t really understand what to say in court. How can praying for peace and life discredit someone? This is some kind of absurdity and a real attempt to call white black, ”the deputy commented on the incident. The court hearing in the case of discrediting is scheduled for August 26.
Last week, a protocol to discredit the Russian army was filed against the editors of Novaya rasskaz-gazeta, a side project of Novaya Gazeta. According to the editors, none of the materials that caused the protocol to be drawn up mentions either the military operation in Ukraine, or the Russian armed forces, or the FSB or the National Guard. The management of the magazine was informed by the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Central Administrative District of Moscow that the materials of the journalists revealed “the presence of linguistic and psychological signs of verbal discrediting of the actions of the authorities of the Russian Federation aimed at conducting a special operation in Ukraine.”
