Izvestia: Exercises were held in Russia to test military airfields for resistance to massive attacks

Newspaper “News” citing sources in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, it reports that in a number of Russian regions in the Southern and Western strategic directions, exercises were held, within the framework of which military airfields were tested for resistance to massive attacks.

Military expert Vasily Dandykin told the publication that many points can be taken into account, in particular, how to protect aircraft from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), how to cover them, and also how to provide airfields with electronic warfare (EW) equipment. The specialist emphasized that a wealth of experience has been accumulated in these matters, which must be reinforced in the exercises.

It is noted that special engineering and sapper units took part in the maneuvers. During the exercises, according to the publication, the military restored airfields as if after massive strikes. The newspaper indicated that military personnel were filling up craters and also rebuilding runways and caponiers. The publication’s sources claim that during the maneuvers, the experience of combat operations in Ukraine was taken into account.
