Izvestia: FAS wants to prohibit large companies from raising prices

According to the Izvestia newspaper, the Federal Antimonopoly Service proposes to amend the legislation to prohibit large companies from setting unreasonably high prices for goods. According to the bill, we are talking about cases where prices rise sharply by 30 percent within no more than 60 days without explanation by economic factors. FAS considers such factors to be fluctuations in regulated tariffs, significant growth in demand and an increase in the cost of components or raw materials.
The list of goods subject to regulatory control will be compiled by the government. The note to the draft law notes that some market participants are pursuing a speculative policy towards consumers, which is the reason for rising prices for goods in some cases.
If a company is suspected of violating it will be issued a notice. If it is ignored, the entrepreneur faces a fine or criminal prosecution.
