Izhevsk holds the first All-Russian wheelchair basketball tournament 3×3 (0+)

On September 4 and 5, on the court of the BasketDom sports hall in Izhevsk, the first All-Russian wheelchair basketball tournament 3×3 “Everyone has their own Everest” (0+) will be held.

The mission of the tournament is to give gaming experience to teams from all over the country in a new 3×3 discipline even for professional athletes. The peculiarity of these wheelchair competitions is their dynamism, when only 10 minutes are allotted for the game. The intensity of emotions, the speed of making tactical decisions make such battles incredibly spectacular. For wheelchair athletes, this is an even more serious overcoming of their capabilities, comparable to climbing Mount Everest.

Thus, Udmurtia became the third region of the country, which continued to actively develop wheelchair basketball 3×3 competitions after the Russian Basketball Federation. In 2023, the first national tournament in this discipline was held – the League of Strong People, organized by the RFB and the Quiet! Basketball project. The team from Izhevsk took seventh place, fighting against the strongest teams in Russia. Participation in the new game format allowed the players to get into the rating of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and see new horizons of development.

Spectators of the tournament in the sports hall “BasketDom” will have an exciting spectacle and the opportunity to support teams that need attention, as well as athletes without health problems

Teams will meet on the court:

Yar Chally (Naberezhnye Chelny), Lokomed (Izhevsk), Wings of Bars (Kazan), Volga (Ulyanovsk), Forward (Dimitrovgrad), Triumph (Lyubertsy), Dome (Izhevsk) ), “Fortress” (Smolensk)

The games will begin on September 4 at 9:30, at 13:00 a solemn opening ceremony will take place. On September 5, the competition will also start at 9:30, and at 14:40 the winners will be awarded.

A significant event for athletes with lesions of the musculoskeletal system was organized with a grant from the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) and with the support of the Basketball Federation “Udmurtia”, the Ministry of Social Policy and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Udmurtia and a number of companies in the region.
