“In accordance with the court verdict, which has entered into force, Ivan Safronov was dismissed under clause 4 of part 1 of article 83 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation – in connection with a conviction to a punishment that precludes the continuation of his previous work,” Roskosmos told RIA Novosti . The press service of the state corporation stated that Mr. Safronov remained an employee of Roskosmos throughout the entire time from the moment of detention, but did not receive a salary, because absenteeism was put on his time sheet.

Ivan Safronov pleaded not guilty. Lawyer Daniil Nikifirov said that the verdict would be appealed in all instances. Mr. Safronov spent two years in the SIZO. This time was deducted from the sentence.
In December, the first court of appeal of general jurisdiction upheld the sentence against Mr. Safronov. After this meeting, his sentence entered into force. The defense will continue to appeal the decision of the Moscow City Court in higher instances.
