Labor is returning to Russian schools. The discipline should appear on the schedule from September 1, 2024. The Ministry of Education points out the importance of this subject and promises to equip educational institutions with everything necessary. The purpose of labor lessons is to prepare the younger generation for adult life. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize doubts the effectiveness of another project from the past.

The Soviet government, if anyone has forgotten, mainly represented the interests of workers and peasants. Therefore, the future builder of communism had to get used to working with his hands from childhood. This is why labor lessons existed, accordingly – to raise a working person from a young age, and not a sissy, an informal person, or, as they say now, a hipster.

In reality, everything was exactly the opposite: the majority of Soviet people did not strive to work in plants and factories in the same way as they did to do field work. Otherwise, why would candidates of sciences, soldiers and students be driven to harvest the harvest?

And vocational schools – vocational technical schools, forges of workers – were deciphered as “Help a stupid person get a job.” And even teachers at school used to say: “If you don’t know how to work with your head, work with your hands.” So they scolded poor students for not being able to do well in various sciences. And all this took place even despite the fact that the production paid well, unless, of course, you particularly abused alcoholic beverages.

And so the Soviet Union ceased to exist, and with it the lessons of labor. After all, school provides basic knowledge, and everyone is free to choose a profession according to their taste, without coercion.

Because he doesn’t know how to hammer nails, but he is capable of inventing a hypersonic ballistic missile. And the other, on the contrary, is an electrician by the grace of God. But he doesn’t need a labor lesson, since they don’t train electricians there, and they don’t train plumbers either. And if you make a birdhouse, then there is a risk of getting injured at home. And in one lesson a week you won’t learn anything, you’ll just waste your time.

They came up with all sorts of replacements for this very discipline, but in the end nothing worked. And so the Russian leadership considered it necessary to bring all this back – the Trudoviks, the workshops, the smell of sawdust, and so on; accordingly, kitchens, needlework, and cross-stitching will appear for girls.

It is not entirely clear, however, where to get all this from, how to restore these workshops. Apparently, we will have to shake up the money and allocate additional budgets.

But from an ideological point of view, the current goal of the project is to strengthen future Russian families. And then they get married or get married, but they don’t know how to fix the leak in the toilet and the pies completely burn. It is not clear, however, why those at the top decided this way. The fact is that the 21st century is here: we seem to have overcome hunger, so there is no longer any need to cook soup from an ax. You can even, scary to think, dine in a restaurant, if funds, of course, allow it. At least there is an incentive to earn them the way you know how.

Dear citizens, we had labor lessons, and this did not affect families in any way, either then or now. For the basic concept for marriage is love, and we do not marry a cook or a plumber, but a loved one. And it is also advisable to be able to earn money. And then there will be happiness throughout the whole earth without vocational schools, labor lessons and even basic military training. But somehow we’re not doing very well with love these days; it doesn’t correspond to either the circulars or the manuals.
