ITF Taekwondo Championship and Championship of the Central Federal District started in Tula-Arena

On March 11, the opening ceremony of the ITF Taekwondo Championship and Championship of the Central Federal District (ITF – International Taekwondo Federation) took place at the Tula Arena multifunctional sports center.
The participants of the competition were welcomed by the Minister of Sports of the Tula Region Dmitry Yakovlev. He noted that thanks to such a venue as the Tula Arena, which was built on the initiative of Governor Alexei Dyumin, the region now has the opportunity to hold competitions of the highest level. Such competitions help to attract as many Russians as possible to go in for sports, which is one of the priorities of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.
“Each of you improves your sports skills every day, dedicates your whole life to sports. And it is you who become an example for hundreds of boys and girls who only decide to embark on the path of high achievements. Within the walls of this modern martial arts center, we have created the most comfortable conditions for training. Children are being recruited in the sections of judo, taekwondo, sambo, boxing, kickboxing, hand-to-hand combat, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling,” Dmitry Yakovlev said.
Athletes from 11 regions of the Central Federal District will compete for medals. Simultaneously with these competitions, the Tula Arena will host the Russian Championship among ITF taekwondo veterans and the Armory Capital interregional festival of colored belts. In total, about 800 athletes will take part in the competition.
Participants will compete in several disciplines: tul, sparring, team sparring, team tul, special technique, self-defense and power breaking.
The competition will last two days. Fights will be held among juniors, boys, men, women, veterans.
