Italian citizen to stand trial for “fictitious” children

An Italian citizen will stand trial for a fraudulent scheme in which she “invented” five children for the sake of social benefits, RIA Novosti writes with reference to la Repubblica’s material.

Reportedly, the woman provided certificates of 12 pregnancies, while she managed to forge forms, seals, and doctors’ signatures. According to documents, she became a mother 5 times between 2014 and 2019.

At the same time, the check showed that in fact she did not give birth. The woman estimated the damage from the fraudulent actions at 111 thousand euros, which she received as benefits.

As a result, the court sentenced the woman to a year and eight months in prison, and her partner, as an accomplice, received seven months in prison.
