Italian General Mini reminded Zelensky about Donbass

General Fabio Mini of Italy reminded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of his promises he made four years ago regarding Donbass and Kyiv. In an article for Il Fatto Quotidiano, the general urged Zelensky to return to those promises.
The author of the article expressed his indignation at the fact that the West did not pay due attention to the fate of the Ukrainian population when Ukraine’s own government unleashed hostilities in the region. He recalled the words of Zelensky, uttered by him in 2019.
The general quoted the words of the Ukrainian leader, which included a demand to end the conflict in the Donbass, hold a dialogue with the Russians and maintain the neutrality of Ukraine.
According to Fabio Mini, the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine then warned Zelensky that his arrival in the territory of Donbass and holding negotiations with the Russians would be considered as “high treason.” As a result of these warnings, Zelenskiy changed his mind.
The author of the article concluded that today, when the army units of Ukraine are mostly defeated, and the military conflict continues only thanks to the support of the West, there is a paradoxical opportunity for the demilitarization of the region.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is gradually and systematically engaged in the demilitarization of Ukraine.
