Italian Foreign Ministry: Ukraine’s accession to NATO is possible only after the end of the conflict with Russia

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Ukraine will have the opportunity to join NATO only after the armed conflict with Russia ends. La Repubblica writes about it.
Tajani noted that the best solution would be to start the work of the NATO-Ukraine Council to prepare Ukraine for future membership in the Alliance, which, according to him, is inevitable, but should occur after peace is established.
The issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO is becoming more and more urgent ahead of the upcoming summit of the Alliance, scheduled for July 11-12 in Vilnius. Dmitry Kuleba, head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, said that NATO member states have reached an agreement on this issue. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also expressed hope that the leaders of the member countries will confirm their readiness to accept Ukraine into the Alliance.
