Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, in an interview with La Stampa newspaper, called for efforts to start peace talks to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
According to Crosetto, the only thing one can try to do is stop the clash and try to seat two interlocutors who are not talking to each other at the same table.
“Everyone is great at pouring gasoline on the fire, but there is not a single firefighter,” he stated, adding that the role of a firefighter in the world should be performed by the UN, which has lost this function.
Crosetto noted that Italy continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine, but at the same time is making attempts to achieve a peaceful settlement.
