“It was three years when electricity was provided in this area, now in old age it will turn out to be gas,” the pensioner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke about connecting to gas

The village of Syrtsevka, Bezhetsk District, Tver Region, a hundred years ago, consisted of several wooden houses around the highway. It experienced its peak in the 70s, when a collective farm was founded here. Local residents could work in workshops, shop in stores, take their children to schools and kindergartens, they even had a canteen and their own post office. But in the 90s, everything fell into decay.

“At this time, my wife and I came here from Bezhetsk. Her mother lived here, and I myself come from a neighboring village, so we decided to settle in Syrtsevka. Now, probably, 170 people live here. Therefore, when we were informed that gas would be installed in our small settlement, we were very happy,” says a local resident, pensioner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Gennady Ivanovich Shchenukhin.

For his 63 years, he – a retired major – went through all the hardships of the law enforcement service. He started from an ordinary position, reached the deputy head of private security, and then moved to the transport police.

“I worked as a senior operational duty officer, but then the Afghan war was going on, so from time to time I had to work for those who were taken there. They worked seven days a week and, consider, in all positions at the same time. The plot was huge: from Kimry to the border in the Vologda Oblast,” recalls Gennady Ivanovich.

But even in retirement, the pensioner did not receive peace of mind. The two-story house in which he lives with his wife was not supplied with gas, so in cold weather they had to get up several times a night.

“With gas, the batteries will be constantly warm. And then you heat it, two hours and again you need to warm it up. At the top it’s still normal, and at the bottom it’s +15 degrees maximum. And so you go in the middle of the night, throwing firewood. Okay, even in his youth it was easy to get up, and they prepared the firewood themselves. And now? For the winter, you need 30 cubic meters of firewood – this is already 40 thousand rubles! That’s an interesting life. I was three years old when electricity was being installed in this area, then as a teenager I saw water coming in, now in my old age gas will turn out!” Shchenukhin says.

It should be noted that Andrey Svetashov, General Director of Gazprom Gas Distribution Tver, and Sergey Aksenov, head of the Regional Executive Committee of the United Russia party, recently met with residents of the village of Syrtsevka, where regasification work has begun.

In total, more than 11,000 contracts have been concluded in the Tver Region as part of the additional gasification, the technical possibility of connecting 8,632 households has been provided, and gas has already been supplied to 3,477 households.
