It turned out where Daria Trepov could be sent to serve her sentence

There are two colonies in which Karaulova and Khasis were imprisoned

Daria Trepova (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) has already been named the record holder for the heaviest sentence in modern Russia among women. Before this, the leaders were members of the so-called Amazon gang – serial killers and robbers from the Rostov region. Inessa and Victoria Tarverdiev were sentenced to 25 years in a general regime colony, Anastasia Sinelnik – to 24. Now Daria Trepova received 27 years in prison. MK tried to predict where she would sit and analyzed why she was given such an impressive sentence.

The question of whether Trepova was used “in the dark” by giving her a bomb or not is considered by many to be the main question. She herself claims that she was sure that the figurine was wiretapped and not an explosive device. Expert psychologist Svetlana Zakovryashina, who was involved in the investigation, draws a different conclusion. It should be noted that Zakovryashina is not a civilian independent specialist, but an employee of the technical and forensic department of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Quote from her conclusion: “The designation of the day of handing over the figurine as “Day X” and “day of pyrotechnics”, the categorical refusal to explain the semantic load of these concepts, the discussion of upcoming events with her husband and girlfriends, and their worries about Trepova allowed us to draw a probable conclusion about her awareness of presence of an explosive device inside the figurine.”

Trepova’s lawyer stated during the debate that such a conclusion alone cannot be evidence that Trepova knew about the bomb. But, according to him, there is no other evidence of this in the case materials.

Let’s say that she really didn’t know about the bomb and thought it was wiretapped. But all the same, why did she commit an obvious crime? This is probably due to her psychological characteristics. There is a way to describe it in a nutshell: Trepova is an excellent student (she graduated from school with a gold medal, 100 points on the Unified State Exam in Russian, she entered the budget for medical school), a perfectionist, but because of this there is a lack of balance in her head (as one of her friends put it, “in other words, a rare fool”). Moreover, Trepova even turned to a psychiatrist for help. For your information, many people noticed the cuts on her hands.

“MK” had at its disposal a psychological portrait of Trepova, made by the same Zakovryashina. It follows from it that at school she was attacked by her peers and felt isolated and lonely. Thanks to this, she developed her own strategy on how to achieve recognition from others. “The desire for self-affirmation with reactions of emancipation and protest is characteristic. Characterizes herself as capable of reaching the very essence of the problem when solving problems, subjecting the phenomena being studied to analysis and synthesis, paying attention to details.”

The expert makes interesting conclusions. In his opinion, Trepova has a pronounced need for recognition, a desire for fame through participation in opposition activities, a belief in possessing special abilities, and deep dissatisfaction (with low family income, social status). And all this “was fertile ground for involvement in illegal activities causing damage to the state.”

27 years is a record term for a woman in modern Russia. But Trepova will serve it under normal conditions, since strict and special regimes are not provided for women. There are no special correctional centers for female terrorists in Russia. Where will they take Trepova? Most likely, she will end up in women’s penal colony No. 1 in Vologda, where Varvara Karaulova once was, or in the Mordovian women’s colony, where Evgenia Khasis, sentenced to 18 years for the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, is now being held.
