Russian schools will switch to unified state textbooks over the next five years, said the head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov. He specified that from September all schools will receive a new textbook on the history of Russia and world history for 11th graders.

The minister said that a systematic development of unified textbooks in all subjects is underway. “Until the end of 2025, state textbooks in all subjects will be prepared, which will ensure the quality and unity of the educational space,” Sergei Kravtsov added at a meeting of educators and scientists (quoted by TASS).

The authorities spoke about plans to develop new history textbooks for schoolchildren with sections on the Russian military operation in Ukraine back in 2022. At the beginning of August the minister told to President Vladimir Putin about a new history textbook for the 11th grade. It was prepared “as soon as possible” with the participation of presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, as well as MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov and historian Alexander Chubaryan. New Unified History Textbook for Grades 5-9 are planning prepare in 2024.
