Vilfand: on New Year’s Eve in Moscow the temperature may drop to minus 10 degrees
The Russian capital on New Year’s Eve will be between cyclones and anticyclones. There is a possibility that the air temperature could drop to minus 10 degrees, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.
He called the situation that will be in the center of the European part of the country on New Year’s Eve and January 1 unusual. Moscow, according to the meteorologist, will be located between four pressure formations. “There will be cyclones to the west and east,” Vilfand pointed out. “There are anticyclones to the north and south.”
The probability that the weather will be near zero is 50%, he noted. At the same time, the probability that the temperature will be about minus 10 is exactly the same, that is, 50%.
According to data at this moment presented on the Hydrometeorological Center website, the temperature on New Year’s Eve is expected to reach minus 7 degrees.
