Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the EU summit in Brussels convinced her Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban not to interfere with the launch of negotiations on future membership in the European Union with Ukraine and Moldova, RIA Novosti reports citing Italian media.
As noted, in the end, Orban chose to leave the hall so as not to participate in the discussions, but did not block the start of the negotiations. At the same time, the meeting between Meloni and Orban took place before the meeting; reportedly, this is exactly the option that was agreed upon between the politicians.
Earlier it was reported that at the EU summit it was agreed to begin negotiations on the possible introduction of EU membership to Ukraine and Moldova. At the same time, Orban previously accused Kyiv of not fulfilling the conditions necessary to begin negotiations on membership in the European Union.
