Lawyer: the law allows Alla Pugacheva to be deprived of royalties
The legislation allows singer Alla Pugacheva, who left Russia after the start of the SVO, to be deprived of royalties. However, the Russian authorities cannot prohibit mentioning the People’s Artist of the USSR as the author and performer of their own songs. Lawyer Sergei Zhorin spoke about this in an interview with NEWS.ru.
According to the lawyer, the norm for maintaining a balance between freedom of speech and punishment for libel in modern Russian legislation is sufficient.
However, Pugacheva is not the author and composer of many songs. Perhaps she has property rights, or maybe she transferred them, the lawyer added.
“To mention her as a performer – no one can take away this right. But property rights are possible, like any thing,” Zhorin concluded.
Previously producer Joseph Prigozhin spoke sharply about the conflict between Stas Mikhailov and Pugacheva.
