In the doping case of Olympic figure skating champion Kamila Valieva, the panel of arbitrators of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will make a decision in January 2024.
The first hearings took place in Lausanne on September 26-28. The panel then heard testimony from the parties, witnesses and experts. The arbitrators decided to prepare additional documentation, which caused the hearing to be postponed to November 9-10.
The organization said in a statement on its website that the CAS panel will review and prepare a decision and reasons, which stakeholders will receive “by the end of January 2024.”
The Russian figure skater is suspected of using the banned drug trimetazidine. It was detected in a sample dated December 25, 2021, and the test result was made public in February 2022 during the Beijing Olympics. At that time, Valieva had already won gold in the team tournament.
