Passion for cars combines with passion for cooking

“Men’s holiday” on February 23 has long been a good reason to get together with a group of friends, but the simplest leisure options – a bar and a bathhouse – are not always to the liking of modern men. They prefer to do something more interesting. In honor of the holiday, MK correspondents found out how Russians preferred to spend their time.

The phrase “men’s leisure” can hide anything in our time, but there are some things that are unshakable – for example, cars. Many even call the garage a male kingdom, contrasting it with the kitchen – a female kingdom. Even if, as an adult, a man has been driving every day for a long time, sometimes it is useful to remember what he dreamed of as a boy. You can do this at a karting club, and a day off is a great occasion.

Both adults and children can ride in toy cars, so there is no need to worry about not having a driver’s license if you have never driven before. Before the lesson there will be instructions – this is a legal requirement.

“I admit, the first time I was not at all interested in any instructions,” says Victor, a student and regular visitor to one of these establishments. “I wanted to quickly jump into this car and forget for at least ten minutes about pressing problems, affairs and troubles. This is the main thing I come for. But the rules are strict. Yes, on the one hand, it’s as if it’s impossible to scratch your forehead again, but on the other hand, it’s all for the sake of the children. For their sake, there is such a dress code, special equipment and a lot of restrictions.

Although karting is about toy cars, the rules are real: on average, about twelve people can participate in one race alone – about twelve potential violators. Additionally, the impressive length of the road and the total area of the route: at least 150 square meters can provoke unruly visitors to violate the rules of behavior in the map. meters the field occupies. For classes, you must wear helmets, gloves, suits, balaclavas and headrests.

Another favorite men’s pastime, along with cars, is shooting games. Whatever one may say, weapons, even toy ones, are an integral part of any boy’s arsenal. Wooden sticks, toy blasters, water pistols and, ultimately, airsoft machines – all this attracts both schoolchildren and those who have long passed the age of 30-40-50. That’s why visiting shooting clubs is as popular as go-karting.

Today, young people have various options at their disposal: in some clubs you can just come to shoot (like a shooting range in a recreation park), and somewhere they offer a special training course, for example, in archery or crossbow shooting, if a gun seems boring . Those who are serious can take a step further – the instructors will be happy to show you what shooting on the move, from cover, and so on is like. An important nuance: shooting is a good way to relieve stress and organize your thoughts. Firstly, because you will have to concentrate during the lesson, and secondly, because you can always imagine some unpleasant type of target in place. The main thing is to plan shooting ranges before the evening with friends at the bar, and not after it: a drunk person will not be given a weapon in his hands.

However, gender stereotypes exist to be broken, which is why cooking master classes are in third place among men this year. True, not anyhow: it is unlikely that a potential defender of the fatherland will be delighted with the idea of making a cottage cheese casserole or steamed turkey cutlets. A real man’s dish is steak: many modern men prefer to learn how to choose both the cut itself and the degree of doneness, so as not to lose face in front of a lady in a restaurant. Well, aerobatics – cooking in your own kitchen is no worse than in this very restaurant.

“Under the guidance of our chef, the men prepare three dishes,” explains the manager-administrator of one of the culinary studios. “Steak and rosemary potatoes for main, Waldorf salad, and then cheesecake for dessert.”

According to the organizers of such events, a three-course lunch or dinner is the most common male request, because it involves solving the problem virtually “turnkey”. Often young people prefer to attend 2-3 master classes, so that later they can show off several of their signature dishes at once. Well, at the same time, debunk the stereotype about men who are unable to cook anything more complicated than pasta.
