The head of Roscosmos Borisov spoke about the progress of the coordination of the Russian lunar program
Director General of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov said that the draft of the Russian lunar program is being approved by the federal executive authorities (FOIV).
He noted that for the mission to land an astronaut on the lunar surface, it is necessary to approve the program for creating a super-heavy-class missile system at the federal executive authority. The draft program, as well as the development and approval of the lunar program itself, is now being approved by the federal authorities.
At the moment, as Borisov emphasized, the key direction in the development of domestic manned cosmonautics is work at the Russian Orbital Station (ROS). The general director of Roskosmos also named preparations for a flight to the moon among the priorities of manned cosmonautics.
Roskosmos is currently developing a draft design for a new ROS. Its appearance will be determined and the main deployment option and the “inclination of the station’s target orbit” will be selected. Borisov singled out the fact that many structures and a wide circle of the Russian public showed interest in discussing what the RUS should be like.
